FAQs
everything you need to know
-
We use the Modern Reformer machine, which elevates the traditional Pilates Reformer experience. It blends Pilates inspired moves with traditional strength training - the core-strengthening benefits of classic Pilates with added resistance and dynamic movement, giving you a more intense, full-body workout that stays low-impact and accessible to all fitness levels.
-
Getting started is simple. Before you can book, you’ll need to purchase a class. Just head to our “Buy Classes” page or download the Modern Reform Pilates app from the App Store or Google Play. From there you can browse the schedule, pick the session that fits your day, and check out securely. If you get stuck or have questions, our team is always happy to help. We can’t wait to welcome you!
-
Our class sizes are small, so spots fill quickly—we recommend booking early and often. Download the Modern Reform Pilates app to set up your account, purchase one of our Intro Offers, and book your first class. New clients are welcome to try all three of our new-client specials. Once you’ve used your first offer and want to take advantage of additional specials, just email us at hello@modernreformpilates.com and we’ll set those up for you.
-
For safety and hygiene, grip socks are required for every class. You’re welcome to bring your own or pick up a pair at the studio—but you won’t be able to take class without them. We also suggest bringing a water bottle and a towel, since you’ll likely work up a sweat!
-
Arrive 10–15 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, meet your instructor, and hear what to expect. Arriving at least 5 minutes early is required.
Wear grip socks. Bring your own or grab a pair at the studio.
Leave your phone with your belongings. These 50 minutes are all yours.
Bring water. You may get so focused you forget to hydrate! Bring your own or buy a bottle at the studio.
Come with an open mind. Trying something new can feel intimidating—but every experienced client started exactly where you are.
-
Absolutely. Our classes welcome every fitness level. The slow, controlled movements let you adjust the intensity to match your experience, so you’re always working at a pace that’s right for you.
-
Our experience is personalized, and we give priority to clients who arrive on time. Because our class sizes are small, entry isn’t permitted after the first 5 minutes of class. New students must arrive at least 5 minutes early; if you miss that window, you’ll need to email us to reschedule. We know traffic happens, so please plan ahead. If a member is waiting, a late client’s spot may be given to them.
-
Our classes are designed to build balanced strength and avoid overworking any single muscle group, so you’re welcome to come as often as you like. To really notice results, we recommend 3–4 times per week.
-
No problem at all—many of our clients walk in having never touched a reformer. Our instructors guide you through every movement, and the slow, controlled pace makes it easy to learn the fundamentals safely. You’ll feel more confident with each class, and there’s no experience required to get started.
-
Nope! It’s recommended if it fits your schedule, but it isn’t required. Whichever class you choose for your first visit, just be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes early.
PACKAGES & MEMBERSHIPS
-
We offer three options: New Client Intro Offers, Autopay Memberships, and Class Packages.
New Client Intro Offers are available to clients who haven’t visited the studio before. You’re welcome to try all three offers—after using your first, just email the studio to take advantage of the others.
Autopay Memberships renew automatically each month on your purchase date. Any credits not used within that billing cycle are forfeited and do not roll over to the next cycle.
Class Packages are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.
A good rule of thumb: the larger your package—or the more committed your monthly membership—the lower your price per class.
-
Monthly Unlimited members receive 1 free guest pass per month. Guest passes expire at the end of each billing cycle.
Monthly Memberships (4, 8, and 12 packs) do not include a guest pass and cannot be shared. When booking for a friend, you’ll automatically receive a discounted drop-in rate/single class pass you can purchase in addition to your membership to reserve their spot.
Class Packages can be used to bring a guest.
-
Classes and used or partially used autopay memberships are non-refundable. We do not offer refunds on services beyond a client’s statutory rights.
Unused memberships are eligible for a full refund within 7 days of purchase. Beyond 7 days, an account credit will be issued and is valid for up to 30 days.
-
Absolutely! If you have a Monthly Unlimited autopay membership, you can place it on hold for a minimum of 3 weeks and up to three (3) calendar months, unless an exception is made. There’s no fee to freeze your account.
Notice of intent to freeze must be submitted to the studio by email no less than five (5) business days before your freeze date. Your request should include both the freeze start date and your reactivation date. Billing will resume automatically at the end of your freeze period.
-
Yes! Just email us so we can cancel your current membership and activate the new one seamlessly. Please reach out at least 10 days before your renewal date so we can make the switch without any lapse in your booking access.
-
1 grace cancellation per billing cycle (by email)
1 guest credit per billing cycle
-
Any credits not used within that billing cycle are forfeited and do not roll over to the next cycle.
BOOKING & ATTENDING CLASS
-
Our cancellation windows are:
12 hours for the 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM classes
8 hours for all other classes
With such small class sizes, this gives us time to rebook your reformer if you can’t make it. All cancellations and class-time changes must be completed within the applicable 8–12 hour window before your scheduled class. Because our classes are so small, cancellations have a real impact on both clients and instructors.
Cancellation and no-show fees are charged automatically. No-show fees process 3–5 hours after a missed class.
Late Cancellation: $15
No Show: $25
If you have a Monthly Unlimited membership and need to late-cancel, you can use your 1 grace cancellation per billing cycle. To do so, email us at hello@modernreformpilates.com, or call or text 224-408-0534 with your name, the original class time, and the new class time. This must be done before class. Please don’t remove yourself from the class—wait for a Modern Reform team member to do it for you. If you remove yourself or no-show and then try to use your grace cancellation, the request will be denied.
When a monthly member late-cancels, the system automatically deducts a class credit from your package. This credit is reinstated the next business day.

The waitlist works in two ways, depending on timing:
Before the cancellation window: If a spot opens up before the late-cancellation window begins, you’ll automatically be added to the class in waitlist order.
Inside the cancellation window: Once we’re within the late-cancellation period (8 hours before most classes; 12 hours for the 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM sessions), the process changes to first-come, first-served:
Text alerts: When a spot opens, everyone on the waitlist receives a text notification.
First to claim it wins: Spots are no longer held by waitlist rank—the first person to respond and claim the spot gets in.
Confirmation required: You must reply to the text to be added. If you don’t respond, you’ll stay on the waitlist.
Timeline: This “flash” window opens 8–12 hours before class and stays active until 15 minutes before class starts.
A couple of important notes:
Once you confirm your spot by text or email, all standard late-cancellation and no-show fees apply.
Save our number so our texts don’t get filtered into Spam or an Unknown Sender folder—especially if you’ve recently updated your phone. If you’ve opted out of text or email notifications, you won’t receive spot alerts, so we recommend keeping both turned on.
-
If you’d like to switch to a different class time today (or within the late-cancellation window), follow these steps to avoid automated fees:
Secure your spot first. Book yourself into the new class time so it doesn’t fill up.
Notify us. Email hello@modernreformpilates.com with the subject line “Class Swap: [Your Name],” or text 224-408-0534 with your name, the original class time, and the new class time.
Leave the rest to us. Don’t worry if you don’t hear back right away! We’ll manually remove you from the original class without penalty, even if it has already started.
OTHER QUESTIONS
-
Modern Reform Pilates does not provide childcare, and for liability reasons we cannot allow any child under the age of 14 into the studio without full supervision—meaning no parent may take a class while their child is on the premises. The minimum age to take a class is 14. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver before their first class with us.
-
Private classes are perfect for anyone looking for a customized session—whether you’re working around an injury, pregnancy, or a busy schedule, or simply want an extra challenge. Availability is studio- and schedule-dependent, so please reach out to the studio directly for pricing and booking information.
-
We don’t have an official lost and found and aren’t responsible for lost or stolen belongings, so please be sure to take everything with you after class. If you do leave something behind and an instructor notices, they’ll place it in the office. Unclaimed items are discarded after 48 hours.
-
Your safety and well-being are our top priorities. If you have an injury, we recommend consulting your healthcare provider before taking a class. Our certified instructors are trained to offer modifications and personalized guidance to accommodate a range of physical limitations. Please let us know about your injury before class so we can help ensure a safe, comfortable experience. Together, we’ll work to build your strength at a pace that’s right for you.
-
Congratulations! Pilates can be a wonderful way to stay active and maintain strength during this special time. That said, it’s important to consult your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise routine. We can offer modifications to accommodate your changing body and help ensure a safe workout, and our instructors can tailor exercises to your needs through each trimester. Please let us know you’re expecting when you book, so we can provide the best possible guidance throughout your prenatal journey.
